Suggesting a regular column in Feliciter on community-led stories

Hi, I would like to introduce myself, my name is Soleil Surette and I am the Manager, Assessment and Research at Edmonton Public Library. Linda Garvin has kindly posted this for me to the blog.

I would like suggest that the Network pitch to Feliciter a regular column featuring community-led librarianship stories that would be pulled from community librarian experiences across Canada (similar in concept to Ernie Ingles rural library stories). These would take the perspective of stories of interactions or experiences that community librarians have had, maybe with some pointers on how a library without an official CL mandate can begin to include bits of this into their functioning.

The network would solicit stories and manage the process and some libraries (Edmonton Public is willing to volunteer) would commit to always having something in their back pockets in case a particular commitment fell through.

I think this would be a great way to share stories (and create a story library for use in advocacy), and also spread the word of how important CL work can be to all types of libraries.

Furthermore, Feliciter is actively looking for contributions, so I think there is room for this type of idea.

Let me know what you thinkā€¦
